Responsibility, Workload, Rest, and Mindset
In today's world we were many hats; the workload seems to grow on a daily basis. Often we get into the mindset of "I cannot rest until the work is done". Of course, the work is never "done".
So, we work until other responsibilities force us away. We put in many hours, and never, or at least seldom, feel a sense of accomplishment because we cannot finish. Are we doing ourselves or our employers a favor by working endlessly?
Many studies have shown that rest and time away from work improve productivity. You can actually accomplish more, by spending less time working. Breaks throughout your day help you remain focused. Working a reasonable amount of time in a day, then getting away, back to family, friends and the things you enjoy, will make you more productive over the long haul.
It is, of course, up to you to decide what is a reasonable amount of time to work in a day. As far as accomplishment, you probably accomplish more than you think. At the end of the day, look back at what you did, forward to what has to be done tomorrow. And then, go home.
